Knee pain is a common condition that makes it hard to be active. No matter what caused it, the pain can be debilitating. Chiropractors can treat knee pain in several ways, but first we must determine why it hurts.

Finding out the true cause can be tricky. Pain varies depending on which part of the knee is affected. During your visit, we will learn about your medical history and use palpation, orthopedic and biomechanical testing to detect what’s causing your pain. Once we know the cause – whether it’s overuse, injury, arthritis or bursitis – there are several great treatment options:

1. First, we need to reduce any inflammation by using cryotherapy, e-stim and soft tissue work.
2. If it’s a structure issue, chiropractic adjustments can help alleviate the pain and enable the joint to function and glide correctly.
3. Deep tissue massage and trigger point therapy can increase range of motion, flexibility and function as well as relieve any pain you may be having.
4. Exercises to help stabilize and strengthen your knee will help you recover and prevent future injuries.

How can we help?

The knee joint is one of the body’s most complex structures because it’s made up of bones, muscles, ligaments and tendons that interconnect and rely on each other to support and stabilize your body. We will examine the anatomical components of your knee joint in detail prior to initiating care.

Often when you experience knee pain, there also can be pain in the lower back, pelvis, spine,
ankle and foot. We’ll also look at each of these areas. Call Atlas Chiropractic in Boulder at (303) 442-5911, and we’ll gladly get you scheduled for an appointment. We look forward to helping you heal and get moving!
