Have you ever said, ” I just have normal headaches?” If so, this article is for YOU. First of all, there is no such thing as a “normal” headache. What people mean when they say normal is common. But just because something is common does not make it normal.
Have you ever thought about why you get headaches? Why do you get headaches and your friends or family do not?
The truth is, you are most likely getting headaches because your body is not functioning the way it is supposed to.

ToggleHeadaches Can Be Caused By Neck Pain
When people come into my office seeking care for headaches they are usually really frustrated by the other treatments prescribed to them. The most common treatment for headaches and neck pain is pain medication. The problem with only taking pain medication is that you are just covering up the symptom, not addressing the root cause of the pain. Many times the underlying issue that is causing neck pain and headaches is the loss of range of motion in the neck.
How does this happen?
The most common way for people to lose motion in their neck is because of past trauma. This can be a big trauma like a car accident or skiing accident. Or this can be a repetitive trauma like continuous work on the computer. Either way, the result is the same. This trauma in the neck causes your body to build up scar tissue to protect itself. When that happens you slowly start to lose the range of motion (the propper way the neck is supposed to move). This loss of motion then leads to other parts of your neck moving too much and that can cause uneven wear and tear. This whole process will lead to pain.
How Do You Treat Neck Pain And Headaches?
If you want to get to the root of the problem you need to first assess the function of the neck. Here at Atlas Chiropractic, we take specialized x-rays to see how your neck is moving and most likely not moving. Once we know how your neck is not moving we can create a tailored treatment plan for you.
Our approach is very different from western medicine and traditional chiropractic. We specialize in proper biomechanics of the neck and proper neurological function. We utilize infrared thermography to test how your autonomic nervous system is functioning. If there is a problem we will make a correction. If not, then we will not give you an adjustment. Once we re-establish proper movement in your neck and restore proper neurologic function, your body can start to heal. Our main objective is to find the root cause of the problem and provide you with lasting results.
