Acupuncture at Atlas Chiropractic
Acupuncture is one of the oldest and most widely used and recognized forms of natural health care. Acupuncture can work wonders for many people, as is proven by its ability to survive for 2000 years as one of our leading treatments for pain relief, recovery, immune function, menopausal symptoms, stress, anxiety and more. In fact, there is strong scientific evidence that supports acupuncture’s benefits for headaches, migraines, back pain, inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, allergies, and nausea. It just makes sense to have this incredible treatment in a wellness hub such as Boulder, Colorado.
The Boulder Acupuncture Experience
with Dr. Wilson
Your first acupuncture visit will be a consultation, as it lasts about an hour. In this session, Dr. Colby Wilson will be taking a very detailed history on your past and current health, lifestyle, emotional state, and physical wellbeing to determine the best treatment for you. You will discuss any problems you want her to address in your treatment as well as the goals you have for your well-being inside and outside of the office.
During your treatment sessions you will be reclined in one of our (incredibly comfortable) zero gravity chairs. Insertion of the needles may feel like a quick sting or poke, but generally isn’t painful and is very relaxing. Wearing loose fitting clothing is best so Dr. Wilson can access the points she has chosen for your treatment. After all the needles have been set you will relax for about 25 minutes. This is when Dr. Wilson recommends focusing on deep breathing, meditating, or even taking a nap.
Types of Acupuncture Treatment
at Atlas Chiropractic
Full Body Acupuncture
Dr. Wilson does a couple different treatments with her acupuncture needles. The full body acupuncture session is the classic treatment using traditional Chinese acupuncture points all over the body. These points could be anywhere on the body and help to regulate the flow of qi to promote healing. This acupuncture treatment is incredibly powerful and helps with all sorts of ailments and conditions. Some of the most popular conditions we use acupuncture in Boulder for are listed below!
Cosmetic acupuncture involves the insertion of tiny needles all over the face. These needles are super fine and smooth and are virtually painless upon placement. This self care is not only relaxing, it also can improve blood flow, increase elastin production, boost collagen in the face, reduce wrinkles, and help to relax tight musculature.
The points used in cosmetic acupuncture are carefully selected. Many help increase the flow of blood and nutrients to the face resulting in a glowing, fresh complexion with decreased inflammation.
Other points are used because they target areas that help relax tight and stressed muscles. Decreasing the overactive tone of these muscles helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles as well as leaves you feeling softer and more relaxed.
Areas of scarring, acne, and blemishes can also be targeted! The needles can help to boost collagen and elastin production in these spots to diminish scarring and decrease acne.
Finally feel relief from your daily stresses with acupuncture at Atlas Chiropractic.

This is another tough question! The theories and science behind acupuncture are incredibly extensive, but here is a summarized version! If you feel this way, don't worry! The needles we use for acupuncture are so tiny you will barely notice them. You will also be fully reclined in our zero gravity chairs and will not see the needles if you don't want to!
