Today it is getting more and scarier to drive on highway 36 or I 25, or I70 here in Colorado. There are more and more people moving to this state and that means more cars on the road. With more cars that brings more auto accidents. It seems like I see an accident almost every day I drive to work here in Boulder.

ToggleWhiplash and Brain fog
Did you know that an impact of only 12mph is enough force to damage soft tissue? Many times people get into an accident and they walk away “feeling just fine.” But slowly after days, weeks, or months later they start to develop symptoms like neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, vertigo, and brain fog.
I wanted to talk a little more about brain fog in particular. First let’s define what I am talking about when I say brain fog. Brain fog is a general term for dysfunctions in focus, learning, and memory that can create brief episodes of confusion, disorientation and frustration. Brain fog can also lead to anxiety in many people.
So why do people develop brain fog after an auto accident? Like I said a 12 mph accident is enough of an impact to damage soft tissue, especially in the upper part of the neck. This is what is called whiplash.
Hear Monica’s story about how she had a bad car accident and was in a lot of pain. She traveled halfway across the world to get treatment because there was nothing more that they could offer her in Norway:
The upper part of your neck is super important in managing input to the brain. If you have had whiplash and damage to top part of your neck you can lose proper movement and that can disrupt the information to your brain. Many people who I see in my office who have had a car accident also report brain fog.
Most of the time people who are experiencing neck pain, vertigo, headaches or brain fog will get MRI’s, CT scans and blood work to see what is wrong. Many times these tests come back negative and they are left feeling hopeless. They are usually told there is nothing that can be done and this is something they are “just going to have to live with”
This used to really make me mad, but now it brings me a lot of joy to be able to calmly tell people, that simply is just not true.
In our office we do testing that is usually overlooked during a routine medical exam. We check how the brain is functioning in real time and check the bio- mechanics in the upper neck. If we find that there is damage in the upper part of the neck that is causing a problem with the movement of the neck, then we correct that problem.
However, the only true way to know if we can help you is for you to come in for an exam.
If you are frustrated by the results you are achieving by merely managing your brain fog, our office is the perfect place for you. In fact, I am so certain that what we do in the office will make so much sense to you that I am willing to offer a complimentary consultation with one of our Dr.’s to discuss your case and tell you if we can help you. There is no reason why you have to live with this anymore. All you have to do is call the office at 303-442-5911 or enter your name and e-mail on the bottom of this page. I look forward to talking with you soon.
There is HOPE, you can get better. Get back to living the life you truly desire.
