Have you had a pain in your neck for the past year? I don’t mean your boss, I mean literally a pain in your neck! Many people are suffering from neck pain and just “deal” with it. You may have tried medication, a new pillow, massage, or even injections in your neck. Does it seem like nothing works? Well, I want to tell you why none of those things are working and suggest a better approach.treating_neck_pain_boulder_colorado

What causes neck pain?

Neck pain is usually a result of the loss of motion or compensation in your body.

Let me ask you a few questions:

  • Have you ever been in a car accident, even a fender bender?
  • Does your job require you to spend a lot of time on the computer?
  • Have you ever had a concussion?

If you answered yes to at least one of these questions, then you most likely have scar tissue that has built up in your neck. This is the cause of your decreased motion in your neck. Like I said earlier, neck pain usually is the result of the body not functioning properly. More specifically when you don’t have motion in your neck this disrupts the signals from your neck to your brain.

Can you treat the pain?

The reason that this is so important is your brain receives information from the upper part of your neck. If you don’t have correct motion, then you don’t receive the correct information to your brain. This is why most of the time people feel like their neck pain just showed up one day. This process is slow. Many people have had multiple traumas to their neck and felt just fine. But over time you slowly lose the correct motion in your neck and it became a problem too much for your body to adapt to.

I have found that very few people have ever had their neck and nervous system properly checked before. They try all kinds of treatments and medications aimed at solely stopping the pain. This makes sense because of course, you want to be out of pain. However, if you only treat the symptoms and never correct the cause you will go around and around never finding a lasting solution. There is a better way.

If you are still reading this blog then you probably answered yes to one of the questions above. The next step is to have your neck and nervous system checked. Let me tell you how the process works if you want to take that step to find a solution.
