What Is Cervical Radiculopathy?

Cervical radiculopathy is when the nerve roots in the neck get inflamed and cause symptoms such as numbness, altered reflexes, or weakness, may radiate anywhere from the neck into the shoulder, arm, hand, or fingers.  If you have numbness or pain in your hands or arms it could be coming from your neck!

Many times after a whiplash or neck injury the soft tissue can be damaged and this will lead to many issues, including cervical radiculopathy.  The most common cause of whiplash or neck injuries is a car accident.  Many people that are involved in an auto accident never get proper treatment for their neck. They might feel some stiffness and pain for a few days and then it might go away.  Then months or years later they start to develop symptoms like numbness, pain, decreased range of motion, and even chronic headaches.

Should You See A Boulder Chiropractor After A Car Accident?

Yes!  Especially one who specializes in the neck and whiplash treatment.  If you have been in a car accident most likely you have damaged the soft tissue in your neck and this will lead to a decrease in mobility and function.  The only way to regain this function is to get the correct motion back into your neck.  Getting specific adjustments in your neck will help break down the scar tissue caused by the accident and this will reduce your pain and numbness.

If you’ve tried a variety of different things to try and help your arm pain with little success I suggest that you have your neck looked at to determine if it is the underlying cause.

At our office, we use objective technology such a infrared thermography and digital X-Ray to determine if a person’s neck is the root cause of their arm pain. We invite you to come in for a complimentary 15-minute consultation to discuss your case with one of our experts.
